During the six Sundays in Lent, we are going to explore the ministry of Jesus which asked the people of his time to rethink their relationship with God. The young church based on the teachings of Jesus began to turn the religious world of his time upside down. Each Sunday, we will engage in Rethinking Church and our call to ministry in this world. A website provided by the United Methodist denomination, 10thousanddoors.org, is a site you may wish to visit to explore what is happing with Rethink Church on a national level.
Bring an open heart and your imagination to worship each Sunday in March as we Rethink Church and begin to see the direction God is calling us for mission and ministry.
Holy Week
Prayer Labyrinth Walk and pray as you move through the labyrinth and center your spirit in the presence of God. The labyrinth will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday of Holy Week, and Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Monday Bible Study 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. Walking with Jesus through his last hours
Maundy Thursday 7:00 p.m. Sanctuary Rev. Dr. James Bushfield will be the guest preacher for this service. Jim served on the clergy team at Meridian Street for several years beginning in 1995. He is now the Director of Connectional Ministries for the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church. Jim has a deep appreciation for the people and ministries of this congregation, and we are delighted that he will lead us in worship during Holy Week.
Good Friday 7:00 p.m. Sanctuary Reverends Kevin Reed and Chris Roberts will lead a service of confession and repentance. Through scripture and mediation, we will examine the life, crucifixion, and death of Jesus. By examining the final moments of Jesus’ death, we will gain a new appreciation for the celebration of Easter.
