With all the demands of life, who has time to get away with God? Doesn’t reading scripture take too much time and too much effort? Can we really understand anything that was written nearly 2,000 years ago?
Take 5w/God is a challenge for every individual and family of Meridian Street to sit down and read a passage of scripture for five minutes and then reflect on that passage for five minutes five times a week. Over time you will be amazed how many passages you will have read and how a mere 10 minutes a day with God can give you a whole new perspective on your life and faith journey.
Here is a short, 5-minute approach to examining the suggested Scripture passages:
• Pray before reading. Something simple, like: “God, Thank you for Your Word. Help me to discover in your word what you would have me to discover. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
• Read the passage.
• Search out two or three keywords from the passage. Think about what those words mean.
• Ask “What does this passage say about God?”
• Ask “What is God saying to me through the passage?”
• Pray again. Simple: “God, may your word guide me and transform me this day and every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” adapted from “Come to The Waters” by Dan Benedict
Take 5w/God and start a new way of living to last you a lifetime.
