Stewardship is an important part of being a Christian and we want to encourage our children to give thoughtfully and to want to help others. To this end, the Christian Education committee has chosen four projects to help the kids understand that their weekly gifts can make a difference in the lives of children locally and globally. Our projects this fall will be Vida Nueva, a local United Methodist Church that serves the Hispanic community, and Adopt A Family. In addition to our weekly money offerings, we will be collecting food items for the Vida Nueva food pantry throughout the fall. In November, the kids will be taking orders for poinsettias so we can buy Christmas gifts for a local family in need. Our winter and spring projects will look more globally as we use our offerings to help the Fairfield Orphanage in Zimbabwe and to buy farm animals for Heifer International.
It is important our children establish a pattern of giving. Our projects will help personalize the gifts they choose to give and help them begin a lifelong practice of giving to praise and thank God for His blessings.
