Havana, Cuba June 15-29, 2008
A basic belief of the United Methodist Church is that we are called to serve our neighbor. In Luke 10 Jesus is asked who our neighbors are. His response is everyone we have the opportunity to serve. Therefore, Meridian Street UMC will travel to Havana, Cuba, to serve our neighbors. We will be refurbishing an existing building attached to the Havana Central Methodist Church to create a new Methodist Seminary to train pastors and an ecumenical school.

Like all United Methodist Churches, Meridian Street UMC is connected to the larger mission body of the United Methodist Church. To have a greater mission impact, we will be participating in an annual trip to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, Illinois, a four-acre campus where items collected for world missions can be sorted and shipped to the places of greatest need. This would include disaster relief, humanitarian aid, and medical and educational supplies. The work consists of preparing items for shipment, like varnishing, assembly, packaging health kits and flood buckets, sewing, and much more.
Cost: $40 plus travel and food
Housing: Campus of the Midwest Mission Distribution Center
