Weddings are an integral part of the ministries of the Meridian Street United Methodist Church. We look upon your choice of our church as the setting of your wedding ceremony as your personal affirmation that you share the interpretation of marriage that the church has traditionally taught and upheld. We hope the beauty of the Sanctuary enhances the dignity and meaning of the ceremony.
It is expected that one of the pastors of the Meridian Street UMC officiate at the wedding service. Co-officiants are sometimes accommodated if there is a close relationship with the couple. Ceremonies may not be performed by a non-Methodist minister.
All couples being married at Meridian Street UMC are required to participate in a pre-marital preparation process. This involves private counseling on results of individual responses to an Inventory test and being present for a one day workshop following the private counseling session.
